28 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland- The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Plock has become a member of the European Road Safety Charter to further contribute to road safety in the European Union.

The European Road Safety Charter is led by the European Commission and is the largest civil society platform on road safety. To date, more than 3,500 companies, associations, authorities, schools, universities, and research institutions have committed to the Charter. Together, these entities form a community in which the members can share their expertise and actions inspiring and learning from each other.

CIFAL Plock with the support of the City of Plock has been disseminating the Autosobriety Training Programme to Prevent Drinking and Driving since its inception in September 2022 to make educational tools available to driving schools, educational centres and secondary schools to contribute to the prevention and reduction of alcohol-related traffic fatalities and injuries in Poland. The Programme is comprised of educational tools including an online training course, a 360-degree video to experience the effects of alcohol on driving performance through Virtual Reality, and a microlearning course available through EdApp.

To promote the Autosobriety Training Programme, CIFAL Plock has also featured the Programme in different activities such as the Local Career and Professional Development Fair capturing the attention of primarily young individuals who have just finished college and are looking for career advice, and in the City Coders Hackathon Plock to encourage youth to develop solutions that advance road safety, amongst others.

UNITAR congratulates CIFAL Plock for becoming a member of the European Road Safety Charter to further raise awareness about road safety and share best practices across countries.
