07 September 2022, New York, USA – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office, in partnership with the Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA) of the 76th session, successfully held the closing ceremony for the 2022 President of the General Assembly Fellowship for HOPE (Harnessing Opportunities for Promoting Empowerment of Youth). The ceremony aimed to celebrate the fellow’s graduation from the fellowship.

07 September served as graduation day for the 2022 HOPE Fellows. The ceremony began with Mr Marco, Suazo, Head of UNITAR NYO, welcoming the PGA of the 76th session, H.E. Mr Abdulla Shahid, PGA of the 77th session, H.E. Mr Csaba Korosi, Head of EU Delegation H.E. Mr Björn Olof Skoog, Permanent Ambassadors and the OPGA team. H.E. Mr Abdulla Shahid, PGA of the 76th session, shared opening remarks as well as wished the fellows Good luck in their future endeavours. H.E. Mr Björn Olof Skoog, Head of EU Delegation, expressed how thrilled the EU Delegation is to be a part of the first fellowship programme and is looking forward to continuing their support for the upcoming programme. H.E. Mr Csaba Korosi, PGA of the 77th session, announced extending their fruitful collaboration with UNITAR NYO for the continuation of the Fellowship for 2023. A humble reception was held after the certificates were given out by both PGA of the 76th session and the PGA of the 77th session.

UNITAR and OPGA are excited to celebrate the 2022 cohort of the PGA Fellowship for HOPE: Ms Jigme Wangmo, of Bhutan; Ms Jaala Jeremiah, of Nauru; Ms Diedra Sealey, of Grenada; Ms Stella Kamukama, of Uganda; Mr Mohamed Fofana, of Guinea; Ms Margaret Tatenda Chikawa, of Zimbabwe; Mr Phongsavath Mahathilath, of Lao PDR; and Mr Javier Spencer, of Antigua and Barbuda.
