On 20 and 21 June 2011, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) will organize a two-day Orientation Programme for Diplomats on Human Rights which will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. the programme will be run by a team of human rights experts from OHCHR.

Taking place following the sixteenth regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the programme aims at enhancing governmental officials’ understanding of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the United Nations human rights protection system. As a result, diplomats will be able to more comprehensively and effectively integrate human rights into their work and/or perform their human rights-related functions.
