JICUITANG: Agreeing to collaborate in SME training services

7 July 2023, Hiroshima, Japan - On 24 June, UNITAR and JICUITANG (Shanghai) Information Technology signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate and a letter of agreement to develop training services in SME development, risk management, and SDGs development.

The signing ceremony took place with Ms. Kumamoto, on behalf of UNITAR Executive Director Mr. Nikhil Seth, and JICUITANG Chairperson Mr. Feng Yuan. It was attended by domestic and foreign enterprise risk-management experts, heads of renowned national business institutions, deans of business schools and successful entrepreneurs.

Ms. Kumamoto spoke about small and medium enterprise (SME) development, especially risk management and SDGs development. She noted the importance of innovation, digitalization, and access to training and education for SMEs and emphasized UNITAR’s aims to empower SMEs with the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully navigate the evolving economic landscape.

Shanghai Climate Week Discussions

On June 25-26 2023, responding to the invitation of Shanghai Service Industries Development & Research Foundation and Shanghai Climate Week Executive Committee, Ms. Kumamoto visited Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange, Shanghai Service Industries Development & Research Foundation, and Fudan University to discuss various topics on climate change, SDGs training, cultural heritage, and youth development, as well to exchange ideas on the cooperation of Shanghai Climate Week programme. Vice President of Shanghai Services Federation and Director of Low-carbon Economy Special Committee Mr. Rong Zou , Secretariat of Shanghai Climate Week Executive Committee Ms. Jie Guan, and Mr. Wei Rao coordinated and accompanied the visit.

Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange: Discussing global cooperation on climate change

On 25 June, Ms. Kumamoto and Mr. Wang Manke, UNITAR China Training Coordinator, visited the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange to meet its Chairperson Mr. Lai Xiaoming. They were joined by the Dean of Fudan Planning and Architectural Design Institute Mr. Wang Xinjun, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Center of News and Information Center of Xinhua News Agency Ms. Zou Ruiping, Business Director of Shanghai Environment Energy Exchange and Secretary General of the Carbon Neutrality Action Alliance Mr. Peng Feng, and representatives of other cooperative institutions. 

The group exchanged views on the development of international and domestic markets for carbon emissions trading, the progress of global cooperation projects to address climate change, and the joint promotion of a memorandum of cooperation framework.

Shanghai Service Industries Development & Research Foundation: Exploring projects for youth, sustainable development and cultural heritage

On 26 June, Ms. Kumamoto and Mr. Wang met with Chairperson Ms. Wu Hesheng of the Shanghai Service Industries Development & Research Foundation and Executive Deputy Secretary General Ms. Hou Yahong. The parties agreed to collaborate on developing and promoting projects for youth sustainable development and for revitalizing cultural heritage in rural areas in China.

Fudan University: Developing SDG courses and youth development programmes

Ms. Kumamoto and Mr. Wang visited Fudan University to meet Executive Vice President Ms. Xu Zheng, Honorary Deputy Chair of Shanghai Services Federation and former Secretary of the Shanghai Yangpu District Party Committee of the Communist Party of China Mr. Chen Anjie, and other senior officers of Fudan University.
