07 July 2023, Shanghai, China – On 24 June 2023, UNITAR and JICUITANG (Shanghai) Information Technology signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and letter of agreement to collaborate on micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) development in support of the Sustainable Development Goals. The two organizations will develop training courses on MSME development and risk management. UNITAR Division for Prosperity Director Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto and JICUITANG Chairperson Mr. Feng Yuan signed on behalf of their organizations at the ceremony in Shanghai, China.

UNITAR and JICUITANG will set up a working group to pursue cooperation in enterprise development, especially for MSMEs in digitization and intelligence, green and low-carbon economy and risk management to promote the SDGs. They envisage cooperation to help disseminate sustainable development concepts and lead to international exchanges, training and technological innovation for sustainable development

Mr. Feng Yuan introduced JICUITANG’s “Awareness, Knowledge, Platform, Expert” model – a digital platform supported by and integrating new information technology and AI and the principle of marginal effects. The platform will help MSMEs build effective enterprise risk-management capabilities at a low cost.

Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto spoke about the importance of innovation, digitalization and access to training and education for MSMEs to not only survive but thrive in a rapidly evolving world. She expressed UNITAR’s commitment to empowering MSMEs with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.

JICUITANG is committed to promoting risk management and healthy sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in China. Since 2019, JICUITANG has promoted the United Nations Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day and the China SMEs Risk Management and Health Sustainable Development Forum for five consecutive years.
