Mr. Bumerdene Dulam from Mongolia is a CEO of Mongolian National Consulting Firm (MMCG) and a founder of the NGO “Mongolian Green Business Council”. He provides the professional research, training and marketing service for Ministry of Environment and Tourism, and his consultancy field is Environmental Management System.

In 2015, he took an e-course “Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in Asia” offered by UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This is his first time to take an online course, and he had a great experience with it. He says that there are 3 reasons that he recommends others to this course.

1. It saves your time and flexible to keep up in your busy schedule.

“It totally saved my time and flexible to manage training with my work schedule. As a businessman, I have always faced the lack of time. Thus, it’s hard to learn by training with fixed time. But with online training, it was possible to manage my own time.”

2. Design of the training materials was interactive and attractive.

“I could watch the videos and go to related links, which was amazing tool to deepen my understanding on the subject. Only reading materials is boring. For me, it was very productive to learn through watching the video visually and listening to the experts’ talking.”

3. It was very informative, well organized and covered all related issues.

“When I took Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) training, our team was working on the national strategy on how to promote Environmental Management System. The framework of implementing SCP was very systematic and applicable for this strategy development. The beauty of this training was that it clearly, logically and effectively guided us how to change economy and business model into greener and environmentally responsible. Therefore, I strongly recommend for every policy makers, environmental economists, business school teachers, or whoever passionate to change the current model of business and consumption patterns into more sustainable to take this course.”

After worked Environmental Management System national strategy, Mr. Dulam have developed the Green Business Handbook and training manual to Ministry of Enviroment and organized the training to more than 1000 Mongolian companies. For coming years, he plans to help implementing the 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production patterns (10YFP) in Mongolia and organize SCP training to policy makers.

“We continue to work for transforming business into more environmentally responsible,” he concludes.
