The United Nations Institute for Training and Research's (UNITAR) office in New York organized their traditional five-day virtual Event, “SDG Learning, Training & Practice 2022” jointly with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), held from 5-12 July 2022 under the auspices of the High-Level Political Forum.

Thursday 7 July 2022, New York, USA – The Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Mr. Mikhil Seth, visited New York City during the week of the 2022 High-level Political Forum (HLPF). Mr. Seth met with several department officials, exchanged opinions, and discussed the work on capacity training for achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

22 and 23 June 2022, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office hosted a two-day informational course on the structure, drafting and adoption of UN resolutions. This course was supported by SIDA international developing agency with a contribution to the UNITAR Strategic Framework Fund, under the programme ‘Leveling The Playing Field.’ This programme focuses on the development of skills and knowledge of Least Developed Countries. This workshop is held yearly as a core training courses for UN delegates. This year’s course had a successful registration rate of 450 people and close to 200 active participants. Mr. Pelayo Alvarez opened the course by showing UNITAR’s helpful and easy descriptive video on UN resolutions, UNITAR’s Guidelines for Drafting UN Resolutions Animated Video, which touches upon the topics discussed more in depth in UNITAR’s book “Guidelines for United Nations Resolutions”, UNITAR’s UN Resolutions Book. Mr. Marco A. Suazo then offered his welcome remarks and introduced the panelists.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) held another session of the weekly training workshops for the 2022 President of the General Assembly Fellowship for HOPE (Harnessing Opportunities for Promoting Empowerment of Youth) — UNITAR NYO’s flagship initiative. Fellowship workshops are held every Friday at the United Nations Headquarters and feature multiple distinguished high-level speakers from various branches of the United Nations.

20 June 2022, New York, USA - As refugee immigration has become an enduring global issue, it must be tackled with tact and efficiency by all countries around the world. In recent years, development actors seem to have gained a better understanding of ways in which to host and help refugees. The importance of higher education and the key role played by universities and colleges as welcoming institutions for refugee students and families has notably been highlighted.

14 June 2022, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) office in New York organized a launching event in the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Chamber for the new book, "Redefining Development: The Extraordinary Genesis of the Sustainable Development Goals". The launching attracted more than 70 in-person participants and numerous interested individuals from different parts of the world who managed to follow the event simultaneously through the UN Web TV livestream.

In today’s increasingly globalized and complex world, multilateral dialogue and cooperation is constantly becoming more essential to promote peace and drive progress. At the same time, government corruption continues to grow unchecked in places around the world. As such, the nexus and interrelation between Diplomacy and Anti-Corruption efforts is now more important than ever. In this regard, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) has partnered with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) to launch the one-of-a-kind Master’s in Anti-Corruption and Diplomacy (MACD), a modular postgraduate academic degree conducted over the course of 18 months.

In light of the International Professional Programme’s recent launch, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and CEU San Pablo University held a conference in Madrid, Spain to provide students with insights into the United Nations. More specifically, attendees were given insights into UNITAR’s mission and strategy to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as support governments in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

3 June 2022, Geneva, Switzerland – UNITAR's Division for Multilateral Diplomacy was pleased to receive a visit from a delegation of the Global Inter-Gangwon Cooperation Network, sponsored by the Government of Gangwon last month on 16 May 2022. The visit was arranged with the kind support of the Global Hope Network International (GHNI). During a joint tour through the Palais des Nations in Geneva, UNITAR's Division for Multilateral Diplomacy and the Global Inter-Gangwon Cooperation Network were exploring avenues of cooperation in the field of Sports Diplomacy and Peace. The visit of the delegation culminated with a Memorandum of Understanding between the Global Inter-Gangwon Cooperation Network and UNITAR.
