Background

In a global context, women's leadership plays a pivotal role in shaping equitable and thriving societies. The ripple effect of empowered women in leadership positions extends to improved decision-making, economic growth, and increased peace and security.

In this context, UNITAR has developed a 4-day e-workshop titled "Women's Leadership: Make Your Voice Heard". This training equips women with the tools and knowledge needed to not only succeed, but excel in leadership roles. It fosters an environment where self-confidence is nurtured, assertive communication is honed, and valuable mentorship relationships are forged. The skills acquired during these four days are not merely theoretical; they are pragmatic, and ready to be applied in real-world scenarios.

This program is also a response to the pressing need to address and challenge gender stereotypes that persist worldwide. By providing a platform to deconstruct these stereotypes and learn how to engage with all stakeholders in promoting gender equality, this training empowers participants to be agents of change in their professional environments.

The e-workshop aims to empower women to embrace their potential and develop the necessary skills for effective leadership. With a focus on enhancing communication skills, this workshop aims to build confidence and cultivate a positive public image to help participants overcome any self-doubt or societal expectations that may hold them back.

Event objectives

The objective of this specific training suite is for participants to unleash their leadership potential by exploring diverse leadership styles and strategies. They will gain insights into the impact of cultural factors on leadership practices and how to foster cultural intelligence for greater inclusivity. Through sessions on self-confidence, assertiveness, and mentorship, participants will cultivate personal empowerment and build supportive networks. The workshop will also equip them with the knowledge and tools to challenge and overcome gender stereotypes in the workplace, engaging men as allies in promoting gender equality.

This workshop will not only provide knowledge, but also foster a supportive environment where women can network, share experiences, and build a strong community of empowered leaders. By equipping women with the necessary tools and encouraging them to embrace their capabilities, a more inclusive society can be created where gender does not determine one's ability to lead.

Content and Structure

UNITAR has designed and developed an innovative e-workshop for female leaders to better structure their approach to their own leadership style, build resilience, and be self-motivated. The workshop will follow the following structure:

Module 1: Unleashing Your Leadership Potential: A Journey through Diverse Styles and Strategies

Module 2: Cultural Factors in Leadership: Fostering Inclusion and Cultural Intelligence

Module 3: Empowerment and Growth: Promoting Self-Confidence and Building Supportive Networks

Module 4: Deconstructing Gender Stereotypes in the Workplace: Challenging Gender Stereotypes.

The e-workshop will take place using the platform Zoom. The activities will be designed to be highly interactive, characterised by a similar format to that of face-to-face workshops. As a result, a similar level of engagement will be guaranteed through simulations, group exercises and discussion, and Q&A sessions.

The e-workshop will run for 12 hours taking place over four days from 2 to 5 November 2023 from 15:00 to 18:00 CET (Central European Time)/UTC+1.

This corresponds to 9:00am to 12:00pm EST (Eastern Standard Time)/UTC-5.

Learning objectives

By the end of this e-workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and apply diverse leadership styles and strategies, recognizing their influence on leadership practices both personally and professionally;

  • Improve their cultural intelligence and foster inclusion and diversity in leadership roles;

  • Develop self-confidence, assertive communication, and negotiation skills, and appreciate the value of mentorship and building professional networks;

  • Be equipped with the skills to challenge and deconstruct gender stereotypes in the workplace and actively engage with all stakeholders in advancing gender equality;

  • Implement practical strategies to succeed in leadership roles.

Targeted audience

The online training is designed and targeted for professional women across all sectors, community leaders and activists, as well as anyone who is in leadership roles or aiming to be in leadership roles in the near-future.

The holistic and innovative training approach focuses on personal growth while providing a gender lens to better understand gender-specific obstacles in the workplace, marketplace, and community. It aims at a significant long-term impact at both the individual and organisational level through means of synchronous learning during the e-workshops and active networking.

Please note that there are limited spots available for this e-workshop.
