Are you an e-learning author looking to help change the world?

UNITAR has partnered with EdApp to bring engaging and interactive lessons to the mobiles of learners around the world.

As a dedicated training arm of the United Nations, we train people from all walks of life, and from all around the world. We have a particular focus on reaching those furthest behind, and ensuring no one is left behind. We work to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Division for Prosperity delivers across six thematic areas to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, including: Leadership and Empowerment; Entrepreneurship and Private Sector Development, Finance and Trade, Anti-Corruption and Combatting Crime; Frontier Technologies; and Hiroshima and Peace. You can read more about the work we do in our Training Portfolio here.

In partnership with EdApp, we have also launched a new global learning initiative to increase access to free, high-quality and impactful online education around the world - Educate All. You can find out more about it here: Educate All

Our E-learning

The world around us is changing rapidly, and at UNITAR, we are shifting to an online training delivery model, using the EdApp platform.

We are developing a large range of e-learning courses, ranging in thematic areas covering topics such as financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, gender empowerment, leadership, disaster risk reduction, COVID-19 response, and more.

We will be delivering programmes targeting countries across Africa and the Middle East, as well as more broadly around the world. One course we launched in May has participants from over 70 countries.

Our courses are generally free for participants to take, although we have selection processes to select the most relevant and motivated applicants. In addition to the lessons, the courses include discussions, assignments and webinar, as well as Subject Matter Experts and mentors online to guide and answer questions throughout the course, so cohort sizes are generally limited.

E-learning Author Roster

To help us deliver on the scale of the courses, we are seeking to create a roster of skilled e-learning authors or even companies who will use their expertise and EdApp's inbuilt authoring tool to develop engaging, impactful lessons that take advantage of the interactive features that EdApp has. We have a lot of content to create, and limited timelines on which to create them. We are looking to run in parallel the development of several courses to meet our timelines.

To get an idea of the type of courses we develop and are after, please take a look at some of our courses in the freely accessible Educate All library - including What is Gender and Why Gender Equality? and Gender and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Are you interested in helping empower learners around the world?

We are looking for e-learning authors who will take the content we receive from Subject Matter Experts and help turn them into appropriately chunked, visually attractive and engaging lessons in EdApp. This is the underlying Terms of Reference.

We are now accepting applications of interest, and will interview authors to create a roster of authors that we can use to develop our e-learning. There is no deadline, this will occur on a rolling basis - however, we are looking for some authors to start immediately. Please note that we are not currently looking for content experts (SMEs).

Demonstrated experience with the EdApp platform is preferred but not necessary.
