8-15 November 2021, New York, USA - The UNITAR New York office organized a six day private online workshop, "Practical Preparation for Membership of the United Nations Security Council," for the Brazilian delegation of 25 diplomats to the Permanent Mission in New York and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. With vast experience of working with the Council, Brazil secured 181 out of 190 votes cast during the election of the five non-permanent members to the Security Council (SC), and will serve a two-year term from January 2022 to December 2023. Brazil is a founding member of the United Nations and was present at the San Francisco Conference in 1945. With this new election, it will have served the Council eleven times since 1946.

This session was attended by approximately 210 participants and focused on self-awareness and how it feeds directly into the kind of leadership exercised in organizations.

09 November 2021, New York, USA – UNITAR New York Office joined efforts with the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) to develop a hybrid event, “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Climate Change: Learning and Practice Opportunities”. The session was attended by approximately 93 participants virtually, and the discussion focused on how climate change intersects with the Sustainable Development Goals.

03 November 2021, New York, United States (Virtual) – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York office, in partnership with Columbia Law School, kickstarted the three-event Fall 2021 presentations with Gender Equity in Peacebuilding and the Workplace on Wednesday 3 November. Garnering a total of 110 participants from around the world, the event successfully highlighted the struggles faced by women in the workplace, and how best to combat gender inequality in social settings, focusing on the workspace.

26 October 2021, New York, USA - The second session of Looking Towards COP 26: The Role of International Organizations, International Financial Institutions and Governments in Energy Efficiency, Food Security and Just Transition in Rural Areas took place in October and was supported by UNITAR New York, in collaboration with Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy discussing. The course was attended by approximately 90 participants and focused on the importance of reaching clean energy targets and zero carbon gas emissions to overcome the climate change crisis.

12 October 2021, New York, USA - The United Nations for Training and Research office in New York, in collaboration with Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy, launched part 1 of Looking Towards COP 26: Sustainable Agriculture, Labor Rights and Just Transitions in Accelerating SDG Implementation. The course focuses on several SDGs like SDG 2 Zero Hunger, SDG 9 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 13 Climate Action and was attended by approximately 61 participants.
