20 March 2023, New York, USA – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), New York Office and its partner the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS) of the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations successfully held the second briefing on the Introduction to the UN Fish Stocks Agreement and Sustainable Fisheries Processes at the United Nations, on Monday, 15 May 2023. The workshop was held in the United Nations Headquarters and was facilitated by Mr Dmitry Gonchar, Mr Buba Bojang, Mr Bart Smit Duijzentkunst, Mr Michele Ameri, and Ms Amber Maggio.

20 March 2023, New York, USA – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), New York Office and its trusted partner, Columbia Law School hosted their “Antiracism in Peace-Building and Conflict Resolution” workshop on Monday, 20 March 2023. The workshop was the first of three sessions of the Spring 2023 Columbia Law School Mediation Clinic training series, it was developed in a hybrid manner and attended by more than 120 participants.

3 March 2023, New York, USA - UNITAR New York Office launched the Spring Global Diplomacy Initiative (GDI) Programme, which aims to provide students with practical knowledge and experience in global diplomacy, current global issues, and challenges, as well as United Nations-related topics. Mr Marco A. Suazo, the Head of the UNITAR Office in New York, welcomed the participants and presented the programme objectives, which focused on understanding the United Nations' international agenda and activities. He introduced the panellists and professors who shared their experiences and expertise at the United Nations. The panellists included H.E. Ambassador Dr Yuriy Sergeyev, H.E. Dr Laszlo Molnar, Dr Angel Angelov, Ms Jelena Pia-Comella, Michele Lee Clarke-Ceres, Cemre Ulker, Ms Larisa Schelkin. Mr Suazo provided a brief overview of the GDI agenda and invited all students to introduce themselves and engage with the panellists.

23 February 2023, New York, USA – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office partnered with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) to organize a two-hour training for women officers, part of the experienced security personnel of UNDSS. The event was attended by 18 participants, who were able to learn more about leadership skills from Ms Michele Clark-Cere, Executive Career Coach.

1 February 2023, New York, USA.- United Nations delegates and experts participated in a tailored workshop entitled Revitalization of the Work of the General Assembly. Building upon past and ongoing experiences, all segments of the workshop aimed to enhance delegates’ capacity and essential knowledge of the background, mandate, main areas, and outcomes of the Ad Hoc Working Group (AHWG). Organized by the Permanent Missions of Australia and El Salvador and supported by the UNITAR New York office, the workshop counted nine presenters and more than 140 participants in an in-person setting at the United Nations.

30 January – 3 February 2023, New York, USA — The UNITAR office in New York has successfully concluded the second week of training for the PGA Fellowship. The training took place at the United Nations Secretariat building with two sessions per day, totaling 20 sessions within two weeks. Each session was led by high-level United Nations officials and experts, handpicked by UNITAR NYO for their expertise on each specific subject area.

25 January 2023, New York, USA - Specialists from the Human Development Report Office (HDRO) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) delivered a comprehensive workshop on 2021-2022 Human Development Report Uncertain Times, Unsettled Lives: Shaping our Future in a World in Transformation for over 150 participants from more than 100 nationalities. The A tailored workshop was opened by the Chief Statistician of the HDRO and the Director of UNITAR NYO, Ms Yanchun Zhan and Mr Marco Suazo, respectively. The workshop aimed to connect the dots between various development challenges and showed interacting layers of uncertainty.

23-25 January 2023, New York, USA - The series of training for the 2023 PGA Fellowship Programme started Monday, 23 January, with an Introduction to the Security Council and Principal Organs led by Dr Angel Angelov, Consul General to Bulgaria and Former Deputy Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the United Nations. To open the training sessions, Head of UNITAR Office in New York, Mr. Marco Suazo gave opening remarks to the fellows and introduced Dr Angelov before the session started.
