29 September 2023, New York, USA – On 11-15 September 2023, The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office, in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar, developed the Briefing for new delegates on the 78th Session of the General Assembly and Main Committees for the first two days of the programme. In this two-day briefing, new delegates will have the chance to learn from experienced officials of the General Assembly and the various departments it encompasses. For the three remaining days of the programme, delegates attended another programme entitled "Enhancing Competencies in Multilateral Diplomacy: Orientation Programme for Qatari Delegation". 

28 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - SURGhub is an initiative led by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in partnership with the Global Surgery Foundation (GSF) and with a content curation process led by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). It provides a central UN-based platform for high-quality, context and curriculum-appropriate learning content in global surgery. In doing so, SURGhub aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the current and future global surgical care workforce.

28 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Plock has become a member of the European Road Safety Charter to further contribute to road safety in the European Union.

27 September 2023, New York, USA – On 15-22 September 2023, UNITAR Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General Mr. Nikhil Seth paid an official visit to New York City for the 78th United Nations General Assembly and high-level meetings with United Nations executives.

28 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland – United Nations Institute for Training and Institute (UNITAR) Division for Prosperity will host in partnership with the University of Geneva a public forum "Scaling Responsible Entrepreneurship and Solutions to Global Challenges" on 3 October 2023 at 13:30-17:30 (CEST/UTC+2). It will take place at the UNITAR HQ, WMO Building, in Conference room C2, on the 1st floor in Switzerland. Prior registration is required to attend in person. 

21 September 2023, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Microsoft East Africa signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support the digital-technology upskilling and reskilling of 5,000 women and youth in sub-Saharan Africa to enhance their employability and livelihoods in the digital economy. The digital up/reskilling and green livelihood programme is funded by the Government and People of Japan and will run until March 2024.

18 September 2023, New York, USA - On 11-12 September 2023, The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) office in New York, in partnership with the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Singapore to the United Nations as Chair of the Forum of Small States (FOSS), concluded a two-day course entitled “Briefing New Delegates on the 78th Session of the General Assembly and the Main Committees.” Approximately 160 delegates attended the training in person and online to learn about the operational aspects of the complex work the General Assembly (GA) undertakes.

18 September, New York, USA - On 5 - 7 September, The JOINT SWISS-UNITAR BRIEFING ON UNITED NATIONS BUDGETARY MATTERS is a three-day training programme, co-organized with the Permanent Mission of Switzerland, caters to the needs of the incoming delegates of the United Nations General Assembly’s Fifth Committee. The training received more than 100 delegates joining the sessions each day. 

18 September 2023, New York, USA – UNITAR proudly announces the launch of its three hybrid events during the 2023 SDG Summit, under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly entitled, ‘Developing a Blueprint for Civil Society Private Sector Contributions: Towards the Elaboration of a Comprehensive and Integral International Convention on the Rights of Older Persons’; ‘What if Women Designed the City?’; and, ‘Harnessing the power of big data, novel technologies, and international collaboration to address global water insecurity’.
