24 – 25 May, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic – Being aware of the important role that country entry points play in the response to a disaster situation, especially in tourist destinations, CIFAL Merida and ASUR Group (Southeast Airport Group, ASUR), developed the seminar "Disaster Preparedness in Ports and Airports". This event was held in alliance with other regional stakeholders such as AERODOM (Dominican Airports); ASHONORTE (Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Enterprises of the North); and the Outreach Aid to the Americas and Community Port Resilience Program; and, for the first time, was carried out in the city of Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in partnership with the Dominican National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT), keeps pursuing its efforts to raise awareness, change attitudes, and ultimately reduce the number of alcohol-related road crashes in the Dominican Republic with the Autosobriety Training Programme to Prevent Drink-Driving.

31 May 2023, Phnom Penh, Cambodia –The Autosobriety Training Programme to Prevent Drink-Driving in Cambodia concluded its first year of implementation with a closing ceremony today. UNITAR, in partnership with the Cambodia Safety Solution Organization (CAMSAFE), the Ministry of Public Works and Transport from the Kingdom of Cambodia, the National Road Safety Committee, the Cambodian Red Cross, and Pernod Ricard celebrated the accomplishments of the Programme, while underscoring the significance of Autosobriety in raising awareness about drink-driving and contributing to prevent road traffic crashes and injuries related to alcohol.

29 May 2023, Hiroshima, Japan - Amid growing global worries of nuclear threats, nearly 20 diplomats and government officials from Asian countries gathered in Hiroshima from 13 to 18 February 2023, for the UNITAR nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation (NDNP) training programme. Among them was Mohd Ishrin Bin Mohd Ishak, a Malaysian diplomat. He joined the programme to update his understanding of the United Nations disarmament and non-proliferation bodies and the risks associated with nuclear weapons.
