In response to the ongoing climate crisis and the pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN 2030 agenda, UNITAR introduces its inaugural international research conference. This significant event seeks to deepen the understanding of Climate Security and its profound implications on Peace and Security. The first UNITAR International Research Conference will take place in Bonn (Germany), hosted at the UN Campus, on the 24th of November 2023. We have received contributions from more than 25 different countries, including research papers and essays from more than 25 different institutions. There will be a research network event on the 23rd of November 2023 on campus for the researchers, scholars, and collaborative partners to interact and share best practices.

The conference brings together researchers engaged in various fields, including Security Management, Peace & Development Studies, Economics, Business and Management, Natural Resources, Political Science, Private and Public Sector, Disaster and Emergency Health, and Environmental Sciences.
The conference is a platform for open and actionable research, concentrating on various aspects of Climate Security, particularly linked to the nexus of Conflict, Peace, and Development. Additionally, papers and contributions in broader fields like climate change and environmental sciences, public/private partnerships, education, leadership, innovation with an emphasis on Safety and Security aspects, play a vital role in shaping the conference's discourse.
